What is a

God
& Religion:
Law
& Grace
- Newcomers to this issue may not recognize its importance.
However, it may not go too far to say that "law" and "grace," directly
or indirectly, define every battle of ideas that has ever been waged in the
Church.
-
- "Law vs. grace" may, in a sense, be viewed as the
ecclesiastical equivalent of modern political debate: big government vs. small,
decentralized government; trusting bureaucrats vs. trusting the people; centralized,
command-style authority vs. individualized, spirit-led, small-group ministry.
-
- If you presently fail to see what I see here, I commend to you, for your
consideration, the following articles.
-
- I would particularly recommend the early 1980's works of Robert
Brinsmead. His incisive, penetrating insight into the "law vs. grace"
debate has helped many thousands of Christians trapped in abusive, legalistic,
dysfunctional churches to be set free. I know, because I was one of those who escaped the
plantation.
-
- And, not to be outdone by their political counterparts, demagogue-
ecclesiastics have branded Brinsmead everything from atheist to brother-in-law of the
Devil. Credentials like that indicate he's probably on to something important.
